Kennie wasn't sure of the time, but she knew that it was the dead of night. She had found herself once more plagued by the nightmares. So she had changed into pajama pants and a sweatshirt, and after putting on slippers sneaked up to the Room of Requirement. It had become a simple room with a bed in the corner and lit by candles. The room itself was large, and a grand piano sat in the middle of it. That was all she really needed in the room for then. She seated herself at the bench with a sigh.
Dark circles were beneath her eyes, and her clothes hung a bit more loosely on her frame than what they used to, but for the first time, a bit of happiness was seen in her eyes as she sat down at the bench and began to play the piano. She didn't pay attention to the time, it didn't matter. Being completely engrossed in her playing, Kennie did not realize the door opening.

He had needed to find a place to clear his head. He didn't need to hide when a prefect came by, after all he was Head boy. He would stop and talk to them on status updates of the place. Then tell them they could go back to their quarters if they would like. He would keep an eye on teh grounds, sort of anyway. When they disappeared he looked at a big empty wall, a moment later doors appeared and he pushed them open a bit. He had been needign to know what to do about his liking Kennie. Sure enough the room of requirement seemed to be pushing him in a direction, because Kennie was there playing the piano. He closed the doors as silently as possible, he stood there just listening to her play, a warm smile on his face. He watched her with a warm loving look in his eyes. They moved from the back of her lovely hair to her finger tips playing the piano. When she was done, he knocked on the door as if trying not to startle her too much. "Hi.." He moved over towards her. "mind if I join you." The head badge sticking out proudly ontop of his robes, usualy he hid the badge. He moved over towards the piano bench, but decided to stand still a few feet away till she said it was alright.

Kennie jumped at the noise, it had disrupted her concentration, and so she had messed up the last note. She whipped around, pulling her wand from her sweatshirt sleeve, but then saw that it was only Charles. She put her wand away, blushing slightly. But what would have been a tiny bit of pink tinge on a normally-pigmented person's cheeks was generally three times as dark on Kennie's. She turned her head away so he wouldn't see, a few strands of hair escaped from the knot she had twisted it up into, they hung in her face, but she didn't brush them away. "No, not at all," Kennie said quietly. The bench extended itself to better suit the width of two people.

"Thank you.." He stated towards Kennie for allowing him to sit. He lookede towards her for a second then looked towards the keys, his fingers gently on them he began to play a lullaby from a film he had watched a few years ago. He moved his fingers gracefully across the keys. "It's one of three songs I know how to play.." He commented. "On the piano.." He added a few minutes later. "My specialty" He stated as he hit the last key. "Is violin.." He moved his hands from the keys to place them on his lap. " My adopted parents wanted to make sure i knew at least one instrument.. and made sure I knew how to dance.. " He paused. "Ballroom.. but I'm not sure why i'm sharing this with you now.." Maybe it was out of nervousness. Song: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OR551ZrV9Lg

Kennie listened as Charles played, he wasn't too bad, but he had admitted to not knowing much beyond that. She, of course, had been taught from a very young age to play several instruments as well as sing. She knew ballroom dancing too. "It's all right," said Kennie, looking to the picture of her parents that she had placed on the shelf where sheet music was usually placed. Her black parents were dancing together, laughing. They would wave occasionally. "I learned to ballroom dance too," Kennie added softly. "My parents wanted us all to be musical, I play viola, harp, and flute too." She had left out the part about singing, nobody outside of family knew about that.

"The harp... really. I've always found the sound of the hart to be soothing." He smiled as he fingers began to tap keys to find the right notes. He didn't know the names of the keys, he learned by his ears. He just took more interest in a violin. Though it took him many years to get use to agression with out breaking the strings. He smiled at the memroies that popped into his head. He found the keys he needed and looked up to where there should be sheet music, but instead a picture. He smiled warmly towards the picture then towards the keys as he started to play again. Another song he had picked up from a film.

Charles played music on the piano that Kennie had never heard of before. She assumed that they were by muggle composers, because she only knew the basic classical ones. Beethoven, Mozart, Bach. But nevertheless, it was good. The room grew a bit larger, and a harp placed itself in the corner. "That was beautiful," Kennie said once Charles had finished playing. It was great to know that there was someone who appreciated finer music like she did. Kennie just found it hard to listen to things like The Weird Sisters, it just wasn't her. After a pause, she went and seated herself behind the harp, gently running a finger up and down one of the strings. She loved this room. She allowed herself to play. It was her mother's favourite piece. "Charles, what other piano do you know?" asked Kennie.

"A bit of mozart." He smiled as he turned around and noticed the violin. "though I enjoy playing one of his songs on the violin.. " He turned himself around and would listen to her play. "The sound of the harp is even more beautiful in person." He smiled as he stood up and moved towards the table with the violin, he didn't grab it though. He stood infront of the table and continued to listen to her for a while before turning around and picking up the violin to tune. Then he began to play a song she might recgonize. www.youtube.com/watch?v=CghCPVr6Jgg

Kennie returned the harp to its original position as Charles began to play. She recognized that tune fairly well, she had learned to play it on piano before, though she still needed the sheet music for it. Charles was gifted with the violin, she herself had never learned to play that, though she assumed that it couldn't be so much different from the viola, could it? She remained silent during his playing, closing her eyes to enjoy the music more fully. Kennie got up from her chair and went to get the picture she had placed on the shelf of the piano. She pocketed it, then looked up as Charles finished. "Rondo Alla Turca," Kennie whispered. "You're really good,"

"Thanks.. I Don't really.. " His l=words sort of spread out a bit. "play for people. Though no one usualy looks at me and thinks oh.. he's a musician." He gave a slight smile which faded. His placed the violin down gently then the bow beisdes it. His eyes just catching her taking the picture down from the piano. Charles eyes moved from her an around the room. He moved towards the chairs that were on the other side of the room, he felt like he needed to sit down. "you are really good as well with the harp and the piano.." He thought he should add as he sat down.

"Thank you," Kennie whispered quietly, feeling herself blush a little. She too rarely played for anyone. She kept her musical interests to herself for the most part, preferring to have a little bit of privacy. After all, the entire castle seemed to be gossiping about her social life, she wanted some aspect of her to remain hidden from them all. Kennie felt somewhat indecent, as if she should be dressed more nicely around Charles, instead of her red and green plaid pajama pants and grey sweatshirt. Like her hair should be done nicely instead of thrown into a hasty knot, like she should have on some makeup... Kennie sat in the chair beside him.

He smiled slightly and then allowed the smile to fade. "You look.." He turned his head to follow her her as she sat down, he didn't know what the right word was, pretty , no beautiful. Yet he asn't sure if he should tell her that, it was rather awkward in his mind. "I mean those pjs suit you.." 'those pjs suit you. really couldn't come up with anything better than that' he thought ohimself in his head.

Kennie raised her eyebrows as Charles began to stumble over his words, but she couldn't help but give a small smile as he came up with perhaps one of th stupidest things to mull over the somewhat awkward silence. He must have really been meaning to say something else, her pajamas were just the old ones she wore if she left the girls' dormitories after nightfall. "I don't think you meant that," said Kennie, looking at Charles with piercing eyes. They were bloodshot, as typical of her these days, but the irises were a dark purplish-red today, the pigment was failing her today. "Please," Kennie said. "Tell me what you were going to say."

He turned his head to look at her. "I do like your pjs and I was going to say... that you look very beautiful" He paused "In them I mean.." He meant all three things, she looked good in those pjs, she looked beautiful no matter what she wore, but some how in those pjs she looked more down to earth, like she was showing more of her self to him. Not skin wise, but personality. She was gorgeous and he wondered if she knew that. "and I mean it.. " HEr blood shot eyes, her pale skin, the way she moved her lips. She was the definition of gorgeous.

Kennie swallowed lightly, she had been wanting to hear that for the longest time, but directly from Charles, not from anyone else. She had been afraid that all the rumours were just false ones, as they often were, but know they were true. She reached out and gently took one of Charles' hands in her own, hoping that he wouldn't pull away, she was putting herself out there, just like he had. "Your blandishment is embarrassing," said Kennie with a small smile, but wasn't blushing this time. She paused a moment. How to phrase it? "I think about you, incessantly, sometimes the only reason I can face each day, is because I know I'll see you," Kennie admitted. Even in her head the words sounded cheesy, but she couldn't think of any other way to say it.
