The silence went on longer. Till it started to get dark, by that time he was no longer over analyzing the way hye had became and just accepted it. Though he knew later on he might question it, he still felt good about just sitting with someone, not having to say anything. It was like a silent conversation, still got the same effect out of it, sort of. His eyes opened and he looked around the grounds were getting dark fast. "Kennedy.." He said softly, not sure if she was asleep or not. "It's getting late we should get back to the castle."

"Right," Kennie said quietly, feeling a little odd. Not many people called her Kennedy. Her parents did, because they didn't believe in nicknames. We named you Kennedy, that's your name, that's what you're going to be called. her father's voice echoed within her head. She had never wanted to be in her father's arms so badly. Suddenly, Christmas holidays seemed like a very long ways away. Kennie stood cautiously, feeling her head spin a little since she had been sitting down for so long. She suddenly became anxious, it was almost dark and she was still outdoors. Kennie breathed deeply, a measure to remain calm.

He noticed her taking deep breaths and wanted to say something, but didn't. He wanted to show some sort of gesture so she knew that he was safe with him, that he wouldn't allow any harm to come to her. He may not have seemed on guard, but he was all the time. He held out a hand to help her up, if she wanted to take it she could, if she wanted to let go she could. He checked their surroundings seeing if any prefects were on the ground. "i'll make sure you get to your portrait safely." He watched her for a moment before looking towards the Castle. The Castle did look beautiful at night, with all the lights shinning behind random windows.

Kennie nodded, wishing that she could say something to thank Charles for how nice he had been to her, but found that she was unable to form any words. They got lost in her mouth, so she remained silent. As they walked, Kennie remained directly beside him, eyes darting around nervously. She had drawn her wand, it was grasped firmly in her left hand. In a sense, the girl was ambidextrous. She used her wand in her left hand, but wrote with her right. Kennie stumbled a bit over a rock, but recovered quickly, she felt she needed to be alert.

He wasn't going to say anything, he didn't know how to say anything really. he wanted to tell her to relax, but figured she'd get upset about his words or something and so he was silent and on guard as well. He wanted her to trust him and he knew that would take a while, until then he would not even say a word about his liking her, after all he didn't want to push the girl away. He had good ears, if he heard anything anything at all his wan would instantly go out, but his body didn't seem tense like Kennie';s seemed. He watched her for a moment and then looked back to the Castle. a few minutes later they were back inside the castle, out of the darkness.

Kennie adjusted her grip on her wand, looking around nervously. She could have laughed with relief once they were inside, but knew it would make her seem stupid, so she didn't. Once they were before the portrait she looked once more to Charles. "You're a good guy," Kennie said softly. "Thank you," and then before she could hear his response, ducked into the Hufflepuff commons.
