He looked around the empty classroom, it was about the time where all students should be inside the castle, whether eating or in their quarters. He was trying to figure out where he'd sleep. Moving into the empty teachers office in the back of the room. He allowed magic to help him get the place looking a bit more cozy. He would be staying the night in the classroom. Since he didn't have practice today, and he needed to be here tomorrow morning, just seemed the best idea. Of course he didn't have a sleeping bag or blanket, so that was probably the bad part of his idea.

Charlotte was at the time, rather cross. She had had a brief conversation with her twin sister, Elizabeth, before supper, and she had not failed to bring up the point that Charlotte was just a goody-good with nothing better to do than read because she didn't have any real friends. Although true, Charlotte was hurt by it. Just because Elizabeth was so "perfect," she automatically got the right to criticize everything about her sister. No disappointment when Elizabeth failed all but two subjects in her end of term exams while Charlotte received all "Outstandings" without any praise. She was fuming and had come to the spare classroom to be alone and fantasize about cursing Elizabeth, when she saw the Professor there. "Oh, sorry," Charlotte said in a small tone, then turned to leave. Angry or not, she was still a pushover.

"It's fine", he said from out the office door. He was just about to head into the classroom for the office he was using as his quarters. He was going to set up a giant minature quidditch pitch so he could figure out some plays he could suggest to the captain and coaches. Either that or he was going to clean, he was in the mood to do both really. He realized he probably should clean first though. He wasn't much older than the7th years, so he felt weird whenever someone would address him as professor, though technicly he was part time. He looked around the room. "your welcome to stay and help me clean up.."

Someone that felt the same way she did about having their space spic and span? That was a rarity. sometimes Charlotte would organize and colour-code her notes in her spare time, and then go and dust. Sure, Hogwarts ad cleaning house elves (though Charlotte had never seen any before), but it was too long to wait until the dead of night to have a clean study area. Some of the anger at Elizabeth dulled slightly at the mention of cleaning, perhaps it might take the weight off her chest. "Um, all right," Charlotte said in her typical, quiet tone. She took out her wand and used a nifty little charm that she had learned that acted as a feather-duster.

He smiled watching her, taking out his wand, he placed it on the window seal he was going to be using magic. He didn't depend on magic and he didn't feel like cleaning by magic today. She could help with magic or with out it didn't matter to him it was help and it get cleaned faster in return he'd probably offer her to come and use the room to study whenever she wanted, set up her own little area or something. He moved out the door only to return moments later with a mop and rolling bucket along with a buket of clean water with a rag in it and a dry rag over his shoulder.

Charlotte stood on tip toe to dust the top of a tall shelf with her wand, then continued on, maneuvering the beam of cleaning from her wand between to books to collect the dust there. She finished after a few minutes, then shot a few spells at the windows. They began washing themselves, thought some soapy bubbles fell on the floor. It was always a good thing to do the windows before the floors, since they had a tendency to drip. That way it wasn't necessary to redo your hard work on the floors. She smiled slightly, just even a slightly cleaner room made her feel a bit better about the run-in with Elizabeth earlier that evening. She then used another spell to emit a steady flow of steam from her wand to clean the curtains.

Though magic was faster, he felt much better when doing it by hand. He moved the mop bucket to the side and then placed the clean water bucket next to the teachers. He kept the dry towel over his shoulder and reached into the water to get the wet rag. Ringing it out , he started to clean off the old teachers desk. Even though the empty classroom really wasn't in use by any teacher, didn't mean it needed to become all dusty and disgusting to the point no one will even want to try and clean it.

A tiny bit of a smile came to Charlotte's lips as she finished with the curtains, now that they were clean, their colour looked amazing. They had seemed dingy grey, but in reality, without the layers of filth, the curtains were royal blue, like the primary colour of her house, Ravenclaw. It looked especially nice with the bronze-toned brass bars that they hung on. With another quick flick of the wand, the brass polished itself until it shone. The room was looking so much better already. It was satisfying to turn a filthy room into a place actually suitable for being in. She stood on a chair to get a closer range for her cobweb-removing charm in the corner of the room where the walls met the ceiling.

He looked up to see what the fifth year ravenclaw had down. "You know I use to be in Ravenclaw." He figured cleaning didn't mean there could be a conversation going on. He continued to use the strength of his arms to clean the teachers desk. Then he moved to the student's desk. This room was in a much needed state of cleaning, he felt like he neeeded to, besides if this would become his place away from home he wanted it in livable conditions. He knew from his days of being here, even students loved to escape in this room. Now they could with out having to cough or inhale so much dust.

"Really?" asked Charlotte as the cobwebs got sucked away into nothingness, as if by an invisible vacuum. They were the strangest things, muggle contraptions that ran on electricity. As if to compensate for not having magic. Growing up in a magical home, the most technology they had ever had was a Wizarding Wireless set. Charlotte had been quite amazed when they started learning about televisions in Muggle Studies. "That's nice," Charlotte commented. "I, um haven't introduced myself, have I? I'm Charlotte Winthrop."

"Dorrian Carthage.. I'm teaching half of the flying lessons this year. Apparently there are more first years than Madam Hooch can handle." He continued to work by hand cleaning off the desks. Using the wet rag to clean off the desks and the dry to dry. One by one he took his time. His eyes moved towards the girl who had decided to help him clean. His started to hum as he continued to clean. Once he was done with the desk tops, he'd work on the chairs by hand. It would take him about ten to twenty minutes and then he'd start mopping the floors by hand.

Charlotte got down from the chair, satisfied with her removal of the dense cobwebs, great, now there were others in different corners. She used her wand to move the chair to its next destination and stood atop it once more to clean up. "You don't strike me as the type of person who would want to be called Professor," said Charlotte as she began removing more cobwebs from the corner. "But it's a pleasure nonetheless," Charlotte added, feeling rather unbalanced as she stood on her toes to reach the cobwebs furthest away from a her wand tip. Thankfully she was somewhat coordinated then and got down from the chair, instead of falling off of it.

"And your right.. I'm only 20 so to be called professor , it just seems weird. He continued to mop the floor using elbow grease to get the floor to really shine. "I grew up in Hawaii tilll about 2 or 3 years ago. " He decided maybe more small talk would help the cleaning. He wasn't going to ask if she ever did anything by hand, because he felt that would be rude. Dorrian was curious though, so he distracted him mind elsewhere.

"Hawaii?" Charlotte said in pleasant surprise. "So you're an American. What was it like there?" She had grown up her entire life in England, and hand only ever left on one occasion when her family took a vacation to Italy over the Christmas holidays in her second year. She lost her balance for a second on the chair, held back a squeak of surprise, then regained her balance as she stepped off the chair. The room was already looking a lot nicer. Charlotte conjured a rag and dipped it into the bucket of water, rung it out, then also set to work on one of the desks. Those could take a while if you were going to do them all by hand alone.

He smiled at her enthusiasm. "Hot..nice.. just like any place really.. there are good parts of town and then there are bad little area.. pick pocketing and such. Over all it's where I grew up so naturaly I love it there.. but life is better for me and my siblings since we moved here. " He smiled warmly and then moved to another section of the room to continue cleaning. he looked up towards the girl watching her clean using magic.
