Kennie laid her head on Simon's shoulder and lightly grasped Joey's hand in hers. Her two best friends were the only things definite to her now. Her life had been permanently changed. This wasn't something that she would ever be able to just "get over," it would always be there. Kennie felt as though she had been handed boulders and told to swim upstream in a river with a quick current. Any progress that was made was rewarded with another boulder to drag her down. Her breathing as unsteady as she tried to control her crying. Her efforts were in vain. The more she tried to stop the harder she cried. "You know y-you can't promise m-me that," Kennie whispered. "B-But I suppose you t-two will give them h-hell trying."

"I can try can't I" He smiled as he kissed the top of her head. "Just let it all out.. It'll take a whle.. but it's no use holding back and getting a migrane." He watched the girl with loving eyes. He pushed back the thought of revenge for the hufflepuff's sake, but it was tough. His eyes moved towards the Ravenclaw girl. If it was her in this place instead of kennie.. he would have just seen her, kissed her and then left to get revenge.. He loved both girls, but both he and Kennie knew if something ever happened to Joey.. he'd turn into a pure slytherin to get revenge. Looking back towards Kennie.. " Just cry it's fine.. you'll feel better."

Kennie didn't need telling twice. She let all her tears rush out, it was like a dam behind her eyes had broken, sending a vat of water out through her tear glands. She used the sleeve on her free hand to wipe some of them away, only to have more tears splash over onto her cheeks. She remained quiet, Kennie had never been one to be vocal about her burdens, she was more of the suffer-in-silence type. She thought of how Simon must be feeling, probably lousy since he couldn't go after who it was, and angry at himself. Once word got to her parents, her father would probably feel exactly the same way. It was all her fault. She shouldn't have gone out alone...

"Hun.. I want you to know I will do what I can.. and you should never feel like you can't walk anywhere without someone there.. It isn ot your fault.. ok.. you need to realize it's not your fault." He continued to run his hand every fe minutes against her cheeks to wipe the tears away from her eyes. "You are a beautiful young, tough girl.. and me and Joey love you very much.. we know it's not your fault.. and you need to know that too.. If anything it's mine ok.. Put it all on me.. it's all my fault.. "

Joey sighed and rubbed Kennie's hand with her thumb gently. She threw Simon a look. "It is no one's fault! Putting blame on anyone other than the creep who did this is just....pointless." She said quietly. All of her troubles seemed miniscule compared to this one. She wouldn't let anything happen to Kennie or Simon ever.
She herself had tears in her eyes just because it killed her seeing Kennie like this. But they were quiet and she just kept holding Kennie's hand. She knew that Simon didn't need to blame anything on himself nor did anyone need to blame anyone. It would mean that the man won. Whoever did this. She looked at Simon some more and then tore her eyes away and quietly stayed as close to Kennie as possible.

Kennie couldn't open her mouth to reply. It was as if Simon had read everything that was presently on her mind. He had the uncanny ability to do that sort of thing. Words couldn't describe how much her friends meant to her, especially in times of trial and pain. She loved them. Not in the attracted sort of way, but much greater than friends. Almost as if they were siblings, but it wasn't the same as it was with her younger brothers and sisters. it was confusing, but comforting. "J-Joey's right, Simon," Kennie said quietly. She knew that he was going to blame himself anyways, and Kennie was not removing the guilt from her shoulders, but if anything, it would give the self-satisfaction to Joey, knowing that she was a better person.

He smiled watching her for a moment. "Ok.. then.." He looked to both the girls and then to his lap. "I will be right back.. I won't take long promise." He looked back to Kennie before he stood up. Moving away from the bed, he soon was out the door and in the hallway. He moved down the hall some and then leaned against the wall, slidding down the wall, he sat in the hall for a moment, tears starting to come to his eyes. What kind of sick world did they live in, really.

Kennie listened to the bed groan, as if in relief as Simon got up. Not that he was heavy, but she doubted that they were built for the weight of three people in them. Part of her didn't want Simon to leave, but she knew that he probably needed to go and punch something (hopefully not someone) to calm himself down, and had enough courtesy to not do so in front of her. Kennie appreciated it more than Simon would ever realize. She wanted to say something to Joey, but words failed to reach her mouth. Her throat didn't feel like cooperating either. Kennie felt awful, it seemed that nothing anybody did was lightening her burden. Nobody was lifting the boulders from her...
