The sun was beginning to set, Kennie knew that she probably should have gotten back long before now, but students were due back at the castle at nightfall, she estimated that she had a good hour and a half until that point, so perhaps all would be fine. It didn't take her that long to get to Hogwarts from the village. She drew her hood, as the sun was still out, to protect her pale skin from the sunlight. A twig snapped, and Kennie jumped, but upon examination, she had stepped on one herself.
You're just being overly paranoid, thought Kennie. You have walked this path a thousand times before. She gave a nervous laugh, but then it was settling in on her, she was entirely alone. To be safe, she drew her wand, but even that measure wouldn't be able to stop what would happen next. A spell hit her from behind and her wand flew from her hand. The next thing she knew, Kennie couldn't move, and she was face down in the dirt. A pair of hands grabbed her ankles and began to drag her into the woods off the side of the path.
Kennie wanted to scream, but the spell had hit her with her mouth closed, and being unable to move, she was stuck. Please let someone have saw, Kennie thought in desperation, trying to move in vain. "Don't scream," a male's voice said in her ear, then laughed sourly. Just the voice made her hair stand on end, but she couldn't fight, she was frozen and wandless. The man turned her over, but she couldn't see his face. Kennie could only listen in terror as the man tore her clothes off.
There was no defense as he began to rape her, touch her. Tears welled up in Kennie's eyes that she was unable to move. Please, anyone, She thought desperately. She had no idea how long this continued for, there was no counting the minutes. The man laughed the entire time. "Bet you enjoyed that," the man said with another laugh. Just when Kennie could move again, the man disappeared with a crack like a whip.
She sobbed quietly as she crawled to the remains of her clothes. She used her cloak to cover herself like a blanket, the rest was unsalvageable. "L-L-Lumos" Kennie whispered. Her wand lit up about five feet away from her. She got up and walked over to it, trying to stop the flow of tears. But she no longer held the will to do anything. Kennie wrapped herself more tightly in her cloak, and used her torn clothes as a pillow when she laid back down on the ground. Her hand was clenched so tightly around her wand that her nails were digging into her palm, but she didn't loosen her grip. Kennie continued to cry.

Ron sighed as he took a walk along the Path. It was rare to see him without at least one of the trio. To be honest, he just needed to be alone for a second. His relationship with Hermione....or friendship...whatever you wanna call it.... was starting to get a little confusing. Ever since last year, things were different. He was way more overprotective than he'd ever been. Every guy's glance sent a surge of jealousy...noo.... protectiveness... through him. He shook his head as he looked around, hearing a slight bang. He suddenly felt himself run into someone. "Oh...sorry..." He said to the Ravenclaw girl. He'd never seen her before. He rarely noticed much usually. "Sorry...I don't know your name," He said to the dark haired girl. She looked a little worried. "Are you alright?"
She shook her head. "My name is Joey." She said. "Have you seen a very pale blonde girl down here anywhere? Its almost dark out and I'm worried. She rarely stays out this late. I hope nothing has happened to her." She said, biting her lip. Ron could swear she looked familiar to him. Something he'd seen before in her. "Alright...no I haven't seen anyone. But I can help you look," He offered, knowing that the world was dangerous right now. Voldemort or a death eater could be lurking anywhere. "You think she's on the path?" He asked, gripping his wand. He could see her doing the same thing.
"Probably... she comes out here sometimes. Simon and I have always told her to not go out here alone," She said, rambling. Ron looked at her. "Well it's okay. I'm sure she's okay." He said, hoping she was. He didn't even know who she was looking for. "Whats her name?" He asked, curiously.
"Kennie...she's a Hufflepuff." Joey said. She then saw what looked like a light a few miles away off the path. Ron noted it and before he could tell her to be careful, Joey was running. Ron ran after her and as they got closer, heard someone crying. "That sounds like Kennie..." Joey said.
They reached to Kennie, Joey fell to the ground and began to cry while Ron stood back, not sure what to do. "Kennie!" Joey said. "What happened?" Ron could feel anger boiling in him. It wasn't hard to see what had happened, even for him. "Who did this to you?" He asked. Joey turned to Ron. "Kennie...this is Ron. He helped me find you."

Kennie couldn't bring herself to answer, words were too hard at the moment. The masses of tears were blurring her vision, but she was only vaguely able to see the fuzzy outline of one of her best friends, Joey. She didn't really want to move. Kennie had been broken that day, there was nothing that could ever be done to fix it. She swallowed forcefully, she tried to talk, but was only able to emit a fairly high-pitched squeaking noise and dissolved into tears once more. She clung tightly to Joey, while not releasing hold on her wand. She felt a bit exposed, even though her cloak covered everything. She took in a ragged breath.
"I d-don't know," Kennie finally managed to whisper. "He d-didn't show me h-his face," Everything seemed ten times harder to do, talking, breathing, even crying was difficult. Under normal circumstances she might have introduced herself to the person Joey had identified as Ron, but she felt words no longer being willing to come to her. Kennie sniffed, who she really wanted washer mother, but she was a several hours journey from Hogwarts, too far away to console her now. Of all people, why did it have to be her on the ground, violated, broken?

Joey held her best friend super close. "Oh Kennie. I'm so sorry." She said, wishing they had gotten here sooner. "Lets get you to the school and to the Hospital Wing," She said getting up and holding her hand out for Kennie to grab. Part of her wished that Simon were here. Simon could make them feel safe, but at the same time she knew Simon would go running after whoever did this. That would be bad. "C'mon." She looked at Ron and smiled. "Thanks for helping me find her," She said appreciatively. Ron nodded. "You girls go in front of me, I'll lag behind so nothing can get either of you," He said protectively.

Words couldn't describe how grateful Kennie was for Ron and Joey happening across her. She wrapped her cloak even more tightly around herself as they stood, and if at all possible, gripped her wand even tighter. The hospital wing, what good could that do? It wasn't like there was anything the nurses could do to take away what had happened. In a way, Kennie was glad that a boy was there, even though she barely knew him and she didn't feel decently dressed in only her cloak, but she somehow felt a bit safer. She couldn't explain why, but she did. Kennie wished Simon were there. It was almost dark, and Kennie didn't want to be anywhere near the path longer than necessary to get back to Hogwarts. She kept looking around anxiously, though not seeing much through her silent tears.

Joey really wasn't sure what else they could do, but they had to tell someone with authority about what happened. Maybe they could catch who did it. She had only seen these things on television. "Well... just to be safe..." She said, holding Kennie's hand. "You're safe now, though. Come on..." Joey was crying too. She couldn't help it. This was the wrongest thing that could happen. Her trust in the human race was seriously deteriorating lately. She looked back to see Ron lagging a bit behind. "Thanks Ron," She said with an appreciative smile.

Kennie gave a small nod in thanks as Joey took her hand. Right now, it seemed to be the only sturdy thing in her life. Her eyes were stinging, knees trembling. She stumbled with every step, Kennie just wanted to give up, not have to move, go anywhere, throw in the towel on life. "Yes Ron," Kennie said in a very quiet tone, echoing Joey. "Thank you." She wanted to say more, but felt a tight lump forming in her throat, so closed her mouth again, and focused on walking.

Ron felt his face and ears go as red as his hair. "Don't mention it." He said as they walked back to the school. They made their way through the entrance hall, most people were asleep right now. That was a good thing. He didn't want too much attention on them. It could traumatize the girl more. They made their way to the hospital wing in silence and explained how they found Kennie. "Erm... Kennie? Do you want to tell her what happened to you?" He said, uncomfortably.

Kennie emitted a quite sigh of relief as they entered the Hogwarts castle, feeling secure. Nothing could hurt her here. That man wouldn't be able to get inside, it was the most promising thing in her life that evening. She looked down at her feet as they walked. Her shoes and socks had not been spared, so she had walked all that distance barefoot, making her pale feet dirty and cut up from sharp twigs and stones. They bled a little still. But Kennie didn't feel any pain from it, she was numb to everything, the only pain for her was what resided within. Kennie shook her head, she felt that she was unable to talk. The second they entered the hospital wing Madam Pomfrey rushed out, demanding an explanation. Kennie shook her head once more and sat on a bed, drawing her cloak more tightly around herself.

Joey watched as Kennie shook her head. She wasn't sure what to tell the lady, but it seemed like the nurse had a good idea of whats wrong with her. 'Who did this?' the nurse asked, looking around at all of them. Joey responded first. "I don't know. Neither does she. She didn't see his face..." She said quietly. The nurse left the room for a while to get the girl some proper clothing and some warm tea. Joey sat beside Kennie and motioned Kennie to lay her head on her shoulder. She ran her hands through Kennie's soft blonde hair. Kennie had always been the one to comfort Joey this way. Since her dreams and when Cedric died. They didn't need words. Joey simply comforted her.

Kennie placed her head on Joey's shoulder and allowed herself to really cry. She had never really sobbed much, more like silent tears, but this was quiet sobbing. Not over dramatic, but she allowed herself to do so. Joey was her best friend in the world, this was subtle proof of this. The nurse came back with pajamas and a cup of tea, then healed the cuts on her feet and flicked her wand and privacy screens popped up so Kennie could change. She put on the pajamas and held the cup of tea in trembling hands. She tried to take a sip of tea, but found that her throat didn't want to swallow it. The nurse took down the screens.

He ran into the room as the screen came down. "How is she?" He looked to Joey as he continued towards Kennie. "Kennie.. how are you doing.. Gah I'm sorry I wasn't there.. " He placed a hand on hers to stop the shaking. "I'm sorry I wasn't there." He should have been there, in his mind it was his job to protect her and he didn't, he wasn't there. He took a deep breath and clamed himself down. One hand against the hand holding the tea cup and the other on the side of her face as he kissed her forehead. " everything will be fine.. but you should lay down.. put some fluffy pillows behind your back.. it'll be much better than standing .." He kept his attention on Kennie. He needed to stay calm for her sake and so he would, but once he could get away from kennie he'd probably explode.

Kennie felt a tiny flicker of hope rise within her when Simon came into the room, but it died quickly, anything cheerful did. She wanted to be alone, but at the same time, wanted someone to hold her. She felt lost on the inside, she couldn't believe what had happened, but at the same time, she almost saw it coming... She placed the cup of tea down on the bedside table and sank onto the bed as Simon had instructed her, for once not defying a command from him. Kennie pulled her knees up to her chest and buried her face, crying quietly.

"Hey.. hey.. hey" He said softly as he moved to sit on the side of the bed. "Let me see that pretty face of yours.. your fine... everything is fine.." He couldn't stand seeing her like this. His hand ran agaisnt her hair. "Joey's here, I'm here. and your safe.. nothing bad will harm you ok.. never again... I promise.." He would hunt down the person who did this to Kennie. His eyes looked towards Joey and then back to Kennie. Taking his shirt, he stretched it out so that he could wipe the tears away from her eyes.

Joey slowly walked over to Kennie and ran her hands through her hair again. "Simon's right." She couldn't help but feel a small bit of butterflies in her stomach, not to mention a sigh of relief. Ron cleared his throat and looked quite awkward. "Well erm...I guess I could go now if you guys are here," He nodded towards the three friends. Joey smiled and nodded back. "Thanks Ron. You have no clue how thankful we are," she waved to him as he left the Hospital Wing. Joey continued to pet Kennie gently. "We won't let anything happen to you, hun..." She said as she felt her hand brush against Simon's. She felt a chill and then moved her hand towards Kennie's to hold it gently.
