Dervish and Banges was under new management. He had worked his way up from being a worker to assistant manager, so when the rightful owner decided to retire to be with his family, he was made owner of Dervish and Banges. Of course he could stick to paper work or get other staff members of Dervish and Banges to do all the owrk and he could be elsewhere, but he had grown accustomed to working at the counter and behind the curtain working on broken wizard tools and gadgets. He loved fixing things, maybe even a little bit more than quidditch. Nah, he loved quidditch, other wise he wouldn't have took the offer to co-coach one of the top three Pro Quidditch team.Well he liked to think of the Holyhead Harpies as top three. THey were good, they just needed timel The day was slow, so his mind was going through his hogwarts days as a student, on the Quidditch team. Was he actually happier coaching than not playing, he wasn't really sure, as long as he was around the game was his feelings on the matter. HIs thoughts were interupted by the sound of a bell coming from the front door. "Hello Welcome to Dervish and Banges, how can I help you?"

Emilee sighed, holding her daughter's hands gently. "C'mon Rory. We'll only be here a second. I need to buy your grandad a birthday present." She said looking down at her daughter who already looked bored. How anyone could be unamused by a wizarding shop was beyond her. "I'll buy you ice cream afterwards, I promise," She whispered. Truth be told, she had no idea what to buy her father, who was a muggle. But she thought it would be fun for him to try something new. Maybe a sneakoscope?
She shook her head, her curly blonde hair bouncing along. Her daughter had the same hair, but blue eyes. Emilee's eyes were a dark green. She looked over at the man at the counter. "Actually... I was wondering what you would recommend for my father....for his birthday? He's a muggle so nothing to crazy," She explained.

He smiled towards the little girl and then towards the adult. She couldn't be that older than him, probably a few years younger, and with a kid. He smiled as he came from around the corner to great them. " Hmm. Does your father like to cook?" He needed to figure out a little bit more about her dad. "Favorite color? and does he collect anything?" He moved towardsa shelf with already remade items, that costumers forgot to pick up and had never claimed. IF it wasn't here he could always make it whatever it was with parts.

Emilee thought for a second and nodded. "He definitely likes to cook. He's alway cooked for us," She said happily. She looked down at Rory who was smiling up at the man. She seemed infatuated with him. He couldn't be too much older than Emilee herself. She sighed. "He's been living with us for years. I need something special for him to thank him, ya know?" She really meant it. She didn't know how she would have made it without him. "He's a sports fanatic. I just got him into Quidditch." She said proudly. . "Did you go to Hogwarts? I don't remember seeing you..." She said. It was her just after her first week teaching at Hogwarts. Dumbledore allowed her to go home during the weekends whenever she wanted to to see her daughter and father. He was such a sweet man.

He smiled as he moved over to another shelf and looked around, making sure he had a few options before he would speak of them. "I did.. about eight years ago.. " His eyes and fingers walked the room as he thought for a moment. "Well Out of the items already made. there is a bagel making contraption, automatic salt and better shaker.. moves by it self.. or can make it have a remote to move around.." It was like a mini little tray with railings and legs. We also have have a clock that was customized to make and distrubute pizza bagels. Then there are some quidditch inspired gadgets that I can make as well as here on our shelves. Quidditch inspired chess, my favorite which actually comes to help coaching quidditch sometimes is a minature quidditch pitch. Can be programed to act out any pro games that have been played and three original .. very fun to watch.. there is also a bludger alarm clock. A button ontop allows the screen to pop up with the time.. and it can be set to see updated wizard news.. usually just the title of an article or so.. I've been working on making another one in the back right now, a few little bugs with it but won't take me long to make right." His eyes wandered the walls as he talked, now and then looking towards the woman and her kid. The times where he did make eyecontact with her daughter he made sure his face seem a bit weird, maybe even funny to the girl, such as wide eyes, or the way he held his lips. "That's all I can think of on the top of my head... but your more than welcome to look around."

Emilee listened and looked around at all of the cool gadgets. Being a muggle-born, she still found this world completely enchanting. She bit her lip a little and listened carefully. "You coach Quidditch?" she asked. She was never really good at flying or Quidditch herself. She was always too busy with her nose in a book.
She thought about getting him something to cook with, but that would mean more work for him. Her father needed to have fun and something that he could do for himself. The alarm clock? Nahh. She didn't think that sounded too fun. "I think I'll go for the chess game..." She said with a smile. "What house were you in? I was a Hufflepuff myself. Its crazy going back there again. I just started teaching at Hogwarts not too long ago."
Emilee looked down at her daughter and back up at the man who was making silly faces at her. Her daugher was having a laughing fit. "I think she likes you. She normally doesn't take to people very well."

"I was in Hufflepuff as well.. Chess game it is..but it'll take me about fifteen minutes to get it ready.. I can even wrap it for you if you like.." It would give them time to go else where, get that icecream he heard her duaghter talk about. He looked down to the daughter nad back towards Emilee. " I co-coach the holyhead harpies, substitute professor when needed at Hogwarts and I just became owner of this fine establishment. So pretty busy schedule.. Ontop of which i have to manage to get home and see my parents atleast once a week or every other week. " He moved back behind the counter. "I'll be right back." Moving behind the curtain he returned a moment later with a sucker. Bending down he extended his arm out towards the girl so she could take it. "I have a huge family" he commented as he stood up to look once more at Emilee. "It's suprising how many of us turned out to be wizards.. seeing our parents are both muggles. There is atleast 10 of us.. out of that I only have one sister.. The youngest is Thomas he's one, he and two of my other brothers were adopted into the family."
"Sorry babling, Anyway like i said before I can have it ready in 10 to 15"

Emilee nodded, listening to his story. It was very interesting. She had always wanted a huge family. She would often get lonely at home, without siblings. But her mother couldn't conceive anymore. Emilee was sort of their miracle child as it was. "Wow... I'm only child myself. It was a complete shock when I went to Hogwarts. I was probably too busy studying to notice much else. And then not long after I got out, I had this bundle of joy."
She pointed to the little girl now happily licking a sucker. "Of course.... her father left when he found out that I was a witch. And not long after that my mom died of cancer. So, me and my dad have been sort of helping each other out I guess," She said with a nod. Emilee was happy with her life and how it was going. She didn't regret having Rory for a second. "I'm Emilee by the way..." She laughed at her own rambling. "This is Rory." She smiled down at the kid. "I think we can wait for that ice cream. Don't want her to be filled with too much sugar," She said, shaking her head.

"Well it's nice to meet you Rory" He said as he was crunched down extending his hand to her. "My names Darren." He stood up as he then began to address Em. "It's nice to meet you, I'll have your device ready for you in fifteen if you want to come back then." He smiled warmly towards the two. He headed back to stand behind the counter. When they would leave to go wherever they needed , he'd head to the back and start working on the magical quidditch chest board.

Emilee nodded and figured the man wanted to be alone as he worked. "Come on Rory..." She said tugging the little girl by the hand. But the girl just stood there and poked her lip out. 'I don't wanna go... can we stay here with you? I wanna watch him make the chess board!'
She said as she batted her eyes at Darren. Emilee laughed a little and looked at Darren apologetically. "Well... do you mind if we sit here and watch you?" she asked, sort of wanting to get to know him more anyways. She didn't talk to adults her age very often. They were either really old or really young.

"That's fine... you both can come around back.." He flipped up the countertop and pushed the little door so they could come behind the counter. Opening the curtain a little with his hand. "After you both.." As he walked into the back, the curtain closed behind them. "Be careful.. come sit over here." Directing them to a good place for them to watch on the other side of the work bench, he bent down. "Want me to help you up?" He smiled towards the little girl. IT made him remember the days when his sister was little.

Emilee smiled. "Thank you." She looked around at the shop, still a bit amazed by the place. "This is really neat." She sat where Darren directed them. The little girl nodded sweetly at Darren to help her up. "Isn't my mommy pretty?" The little girl said pointing to her mother. Emilee's eyes got huge as she eyed Rory and blushed terribly. "Rory!!" She said with a laugh. "I don't know what's gotten into her."

"It's fine really.." He told the girls mother as he picked up the girl and placed her in the seat, which was rather high up, for her age. He then moved to the other side of the table, walking to the back wall, he ran his finger through the air as if counting spots. Finaly he found what he needed and brought it back to the table. The board was already on the table with most of the peices. "So I'll be adding a few different elements, polishing it up, making sure voice recgonition works and it'll be done."
