Mikeal sat in the commons alone, all his homework sprawled out over the surface of the table. The majority of it was for Potions. He swore that Professor Snape hated his guts, which was probably why he had given Mikeal so much work, while barely giving the Slytherins in that class period any. Perhaps he was bitter that Mikeal had barely managed an Outstanding on his OWL exams to get into NEWT level potions. It was currently dinner, but Mikeal felt inundated with homework, so he had made himself a sandwich to munch on while he worked. He heard the distinct sound of the portrait opening, but he was a bit too engrossed in his work to look up to see who it was.

Dani had been sitting on the Gryffindor table with some of her friends, they had been discussing school work, but soon came onto the subject of boys. She sighed and finished her dinner, swinging her bag over her shoulder and walked off without saying goodbye. She didn't know what it was about the subject, she just didn't like it. She walked out of the great hall and on to the stairs, as she reached the seventh floor she got off and walked to the fat lady.
"Password?"
[/i] Dani mumbled the password and the portrait swung open allowing her to enter the common room. She sighed and walked in letting her bag fall off her shoulder to the floor making a large bang noise against the floor. She fluffed her hair and saw someone doing school work of some sort. "Oh, I'm sorry, i- i didn't see you there."[/b] She explained quickly feeling like a complete idiot for not noticing someone else there.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Mikeal looked up when he heard spoken words. A large drop of ink fell from the point of his quill and splashed onto the parchment. He didn't pay it too much mind, he could always do a quick charm to get rid of it later. The girl who had come in was pretty. "Worry not," said Mikeal, though with his German accent, "worry" sounded more like "vorry" if you were paying close enough attention to his dialect. He laid his quill down, welcoming somewhat of an excuse to procrastinate on all his homework. But he did want to finish it, he'd love to see the look on Professor Snape's face when he turned it all in. "I am Mikeal, what be your name?"

She smiled and decided to simply ignore his accent, not like hers was much better, but she had been in England for a while. She doubted he would notice anything Spanish about her, unless she mentioned her last name, or her tan. "I'm Dani, nice to meet you Mikeal."
[/b] She said walking over and sitting on one of the couch's near to him. "I guess your not from around here, or from Britain?"[/b] She said looking up, just something to talk about really.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Mikeal gave a small smile to the girl (the kind that he usually reserved for girls he intended to flirt with) who had introduced herself as Dani. He supposed that it was a short form for something else, like Danica, or Diana. He deciced that he liked it. A masculine-sounding name for a pretty girl. "Ja I am not from England, I came from Deutschland two years ago." said Mikeal. But the girl didn't quite have the English accent either. He decided that he would wait to see how it played out. Perhaps they might have legitimate conversation, or it might turn to flirting. Who knew?

Dani smiled. She was quite happy to meet someone who wasn't born in Britain, she had been here since her first year, so she picked up some of the English accent. Although her Spanish accent was still present, it was quite obvious she wasn't from around here, seeing as she was very tanned, not like normal people for Britain, seeing as it hardly ever was sunny. "Oh i see,"
[/b] She said and looked before talking once again. "I'm from Spain, been here for five years."[/b] She said smiling and looking away for a moment.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Mikeal nodded when Dani mentioned Spain. Now that he thought about it, the idea made sense. She seemed a bit more pigmented than others around the united Kingdom. It was usually cloudy, and it rained all the time. It was quite tiresome. Mikeal missed seeing the sun. Though it was nice weather for Quidditch when the sun wasn't in his eyes. It made it easier to find the bludgers and whack them toward a member of the opposing team. "Did du like it there?" asked Mikeal, trying to make polite conversation. He was jealous of how well she had picked up on English, it had taken him forever, and the occasional German word still slipped into his sentences.

She looked at him for a moment as he began to speak. "Yes, i did, very much."
[/b] She said sighing slightly. "Didn't get much, notice really, my mum just announced we was moving to London."[/b] She spoke shrugging. She didn't mind, she missed the lovely Spanish weather, she missed the Spanish altogether. She hadn't spoke Spanish for a very long time, hardly ever now, apart from when she wrote letters to her family, she would write them. She smiled. "Do you miss it?"[/b] Obviously referring to where he was originally from.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

"Ja," said Mikeal with a slight nod. "The weather was much better back there, der Sonne is always hidden here." He frowned a bit, actually tempted to return to his potions homework, just to get it done and out of the way. There was just so much... He didn't really have any in his other subjects. "Though the Spanisch weather is probably much better," Mikeal added thoughtfully. It was nice to have meaningful conversation and not outright flirting with a girl.

Dani nodded, it was always hot in Spain. All Spanish citizen would be so happy if it rained there, it hardly rained anymore. Summer was the hottest, to hot for some people. Yet, Dani could deal with the heat, but seeing as she wasn't use to the cold yet, she would stay inside near the fire most of the time. "You could say it was nice, now and then i suppose,"
[/b] She said looking up at the boy. "Everyone liked it when it rained mostly."[/b] She added on.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Mikeal nodded as the girl spoke. She was interesting, different from the rest around Hogwarts. It had been so strange when he had first come here in his fourth year, everyone stared at him because he was foreign or something. But now he fit in a bit better, Mikeal had even gotten to be captain of the Quidditch team. Although, he did still feel different from the others. A cat with a flat face and mousy brown fur padded into the room, a dead spider clamped in its mouth. The cat was blind in its left eye, though its right was bright yellow. His name was Ludwig and Mikeal had rescued him from a lifetime in a pet store last Hogsmeade weekend. Ludwig hopped up into Mikeal's lap, purring as he ate the spider. "Ausgezeichnet Ludwig. Sie sind ein guter Kater." Mikeal praised.

Dani looked as she saw a cat come into the room, with what seemed to be a dead spider clamped in its mouth. Her lip curled up at the thought of the spider, she hated them, they were disgusting. She shook her head and looked at the floor in thought. She still remembered her first year, she spoke little English but soon grew into it. She smiled and looked up at him. She was happy to find someone who wasn't born in England, yet both from different places.

Mikeal fantasized about ow blistering hot, but beautiful Spain would be. He would definitely trade that for living here in a heartbeat, even if it meant switching schools a second time. He missed the sunshine, they got more of it in rural Germany. He thought of his older brother, Orion. He was an Auror-in-training, and was very close with Mikeal. He looked up to his older brother, in fact, he intended to become an Auror himself after graduation. He scratched Ludwig behind the ears after he had finished eating the spider and sighed lightly. "I still have trouble with the Englisch slang," said Mikeal, a feeble stab at conversation.

Dani smirked slightly, her English was ok now, but people still would know she wasn't from around here because of her natural tanned look. "Yes, i had trouble with mine at first,"
[/b] She said sighing before carrying on. "But, I've been here since my first year, so I've been here a while." She said with a smile, he would catch on to the English accent in a few years maybe, she only got use to it in her fourth year, which was last year actually.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/size]

Mikeal nodded as Dani spoke, gently stroking Ludwig's soft, mousy brown fur. Sure, he wasn't the prettiest cat, but he was more loyal than a dog, and very sweet. He woke Mikeal up every morning by rubbing his head against the boy's chin. It was hard to believe that nobody had wanted Ludwig. People in general were terribly shallow, judging by looks alone. "Longer than I, at least," said Mikeal, eyes wandering to the window. The Gryffindor tower had an excellent view of the grounds, especially at sunset. Or, at least on the days that weren't cloudy and rainy. "Perhaps you might be able to help me," Mikeal added.
