"I h-hadn't planned on it," said Kennie. She had known that Simon had liked Joey and the she liked him back for the longest time. It was so bluntly obvious the way that they looked at each other, acted the way the other was around. Kennie was like the neutral third party, she almost felt like a third wheel sometimes, being a close friend to both Joey and Simon. Of course, the school would set people up blindly to make it more "fun" she supposed. Stupid really, just a lot of work for some already over-worked teacher who had decided to volunteer for the job. "If i-it is that way, p-people will probably stray a-away from whom they're a-assigned." Kennie added.

He smiled watching her. " You do know I lov you right Kennedy.. that I'd never be the same if I didn't have you as a friend.. you keep me from.. exploding.. help me calm down before I might say spell like I was a slytherin." He brang her close to him, his head leaning against her head that was on his shoulder. " My life would never be the same.. never.. you remember that.." He wanted to make sure she knew he was truelly there, that he truelly wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't in her life.

Kennie wanted to cry all over again, and she had just stopped. Only this time, happier tears. She hugged Simon tightly, she had never felt so emotionally close to someone before, not even her own family. Their relationship was special, something that she didn't have with anybody else, not even with Joey. She sniffed and held back more tears, telling herself that she wasn't going to cry any more that night. At least not while Simon was around. She didn't want to drive him too crazy with these two in the morning crying sessions. "I know," Kennie whispered, then took a deep breath to steady herself. "You're my best friend. The big brother I never had." She sniffed, then allowed herself a few tears. Simon and Joey were the only things keeping her alive right now. If it weren't for them, Kennie wouldn't have the will to live.

He smiled as he noticed the tears forming, but not fully forming. "You stay up with me and try to help me back to bed everytime I end up screaming in the middle of the night.. the least i can do is dry your tears when need be.. don't take that out of my job description listed under the title Friend" He smiled with a soft laugh watching her. She was one of the sweetest girls, that any guy would be lucky to date and for something so horrible to happen to her it made him want to break down, but that was his choice.

Kennie felt the conversation slipping away from her again, she felt that she had nothing meaningful left to say, but rather that anything that ought to be said was conveyed through the silence. She looked into the fire, it was almost like old times again, the nights where she would wake up when Simon had his awful dreams and they would lie together on the couch in the commons until he fell asleep again. Almost like that. But it wasn't there yet. There was still all the added weight to Kennie's heart, the weight that just didn't seem to come off, that held her down. Kennie used the back of her hand to dry her cheeks that were still damp. Her eyes felt dry and they stung.
