It was a Hogsmeade weekend, the first one in a rather long while. Harry had gotten up particularly early that morning, partly because he couldn't sleep, and partly because he was eager to go to the small village. It might keep his mind off of things for a while, so long as he didn't have an encounter with one of the Slytherins that just loved to make his life miserable. Harry took a large bite of toast that he had brought with him.
He had not even waited for Ron and Hermione, just got up and left. He had made a slight detour to the Great Hall to get a few slices of toast to eat on the way and have a quick cup of coffee, but that was it. Harry enjoyed the freedom of being able to leave Hogwarts from time to time, even if it was just a trip to Hogsmeade. Harry looked to his feet as he chewed, hearing the footsteps of another person.

Jordyn had her chocolate brown hair pulled back into a messy pony tail. She was dressed in a pair of jeans and a shirt. Something comfortable. At least she thought so. She had never really cared for the school robes but you had to wear them. Shaking the thought from her head, she brushed a stray strand of hair out of her face and hummed softly as she made her way down the hall. It was early and she was only up due to the fact that she hadn't been able to sleep the past few nights. Pulling on her jacket, she turned the corner and continued her way down the hall.
Looking around, she just continued to hum softly to herself, soon spotting someone just up ahead. Smiling a small smile, she turned her head and looked over at the boy. Hello Harry. She said in a soft tone and just continued to walk, wondering if he would say hello back.

Luckily for whomever this girl was (a seventh year Harry presumed, as he didn't recall her face from any of his classes), Harry was in a relatively good mood, and for once wanting company. She had greeted him instead of sneering or throwing insults at him, so perhaps she wasn't just another hostile Slytherin. Were all of them nasty? Harry didn't consider himself to be prejudiced, but he had never met someone of the Slytherin house who was terribly kindly. Perhaps with a bit of kindness they might be able to spend a little bit of time together, since Ron and Hermione had developed the uncanny ability to not be there when Harry searched for them.
He looked up from his feet at the girl, she seemed like the quiet, studious type. Just by her tone of voice. Harry lengthened his stride to keep up with her, something about the girl intrigued him. She just seemed like a mysterious figure to him. he wanted to know more about her. It wasn't an attraction type of thing, like what he had with Cho Chang, a sixth year Ravenclaw, but more like someone he wanted to have as a friend. He swallowed his mouthful of toast. "'Morning," said Harry to the girl. It was sort of annoying how everyone knew who he was, made it hard to start convrsation. "I don't think we've been introduced," Harry added.

Jordyn smiled and just continued to walk with him. It didn't dawn on her that he didn't know who she was until after she had said hello. She gently bit her lower lip and turned her head, looking up at him. Sorry...guess it kind of gets weird when people you don't know say hi to you. She said and looked down at her feet, then back up and in front of her. Jordyn Turner. She said, letting her hands rest in the pocket of her jacket.
Her messenger bag gently hit the side of her leg, making a soft thud as she walked. Her bangs falling and resting just above her eyes as she just thought to herself and walked. So...where are you heading? She asked, just trying to be friendly and start a conversation with him.

Harry nodded as the girl talked, now feeling incredibly stupid for holding a half-eaten slice of toast in his hand. He had been neglecting to eat it the entire walk, true, he had never really cared much for breakfast, though if he didn't eat anything he would be starving by lunchtime. Harry took another large bite out of his slice of toast, chewed and swallowed quickly. Jordyn Turner. It seemed a simple enough name to remember, but Harry figured that he would forget it by the end of the day. He was much better at remembering faces than names. Unless he was particularly close to the person, the name wasn't really all that important, at least not to him.
Yes, it was weird for people to greet him by name when he had no clue as to who they were. Harry still wasn't very used to it, even now after entering his fifth year at Hogwarts. He could remember how awkward it had been the first time that he had gone to the Leakey Cauldron with Hagrid, and how everybody was so shocked to see him, wanting to shake his hand and engage him in conversation. At least with the Daily Prophet bashings, this no longer happened frequently. "Erm, just down to Hogsmeade," Harry said with a shrug. "To get a butterbeer or something." He took another bite of toast.

Jordyn nodded her head as she listened to him gave a small smile. She had enjoyed going to Hogsmeade. Yes, she did like Hogwarts but it was always just nice to get away for a littl ewhile and have some fun with her friends. Though, most of her friends this year really weren't there. They had either graduated or had been no where in sight the past few days. Shaking the thought from her head, she just continued to walk, looking around her a little.
Oh..well, mind if I join you? She asked, looking up at him. She didn't know why but she just felt like they would, or could be, good friends. Brushing a strand of hair from her face again, she adjusted her bag on her shoulder.

Harry looked to the trees as they walked. They swayed slightly in the breeze, their leaves no longer the rich green splendor of spring and summer, but rather the browning or yellowing states, slowly falling from the trees, leaving their branches naked. Slightly depressing, but it was still Harry's favourite time of year. The best time for Quidditch, the ground was the hardest, making for the best kick-offs. And the cool air was refreshing while darting around the pitch on a broomstick, in hot pursuit of the golden snitch to end (and most likely) and win the game. True, autumn was also the season most liable to sudden and violent storms, but most of the time, the weather was pleasant enough for Quidditch. Harry finished his bite of toast, then looked back at Jordyn as she began to speak again. She didn't seem like much of one for conversation, Harry would at least pay her some respect.
No, he did not mind having company, in fact, it might ward off further attacks on him by the Slytherins if he were acompanied by someone, even if they didn't appear to be very close friends. "Not at all," said Harry. He finished off the rest of his toast. The girl seemed familiar, where had he seen her before? The Quidditch pitch, the last match against Ravenclaw... Now he knew where he had seen her. "You're the Ravenclaw chaser, aren't you?" asked Harry, trying to make polite conversation.

Jordyn watched as several leaves fell to the ground and the tree branches rustle as a cool breeze blew. The cool breeze gently hitting her soft skin as she continued to walk. Yeah, but I'm not as good as some of the others on the other teams. She said. Jordyn was actually pretty good. Not as bad as she thought. She just didn't like to brag about herself or anything like that. Buttoning the top button of her jacket, she let her hands fall down by her side and just looked straight ahead as she walked.
Jordyn was general a quiet person. Usually kept to herself. It was then that her owl came flying towards her and landed just a few steps ahead of her. Picking up the package, she watched her owl fly off and then just continued to walk with Harry. So...any big plans for Christmas? She asked, giving a small smile.

Harry knew it, at least he had gotten the position right. Turner. Yes, that did seem like a name that Lee Jordan had announced over the magical megaphone before. Harry had seen her fly, she was pretty good, right up there with Katie Bell and Alicia Spinett. He was about to condrtadict her on this, she ought to have a bit higher self-esteem about her Quidditch abilties. She ought to live a little, brag about what she had once in a while. But he had the feeling that Jordyn was more of one to stick to herself then go around in groups. Harry himself liked company, just not large crowds of friends.
Harry paused while Jordyn retrieved a parcel that an owl dropped before her, as not to seem rude or anything. He was a bit curious as to what the parcel contained, but it really wasn't any of his business. Harry thought briefly on Sirius, they rarely wrote to one another these days. Their correspondence seemed to rely on Harry having a problem. "Erm no, not really. I'll probably just stay at Hogwarts, unless I'm invited to spend the holidays at Ron's." said Harry. "Do you?"

Jordyn held the package in her hand. It was nothing big. Probably just a letter or something. As she continued to walk, she looked around as they reached Hogsmeade. It wasn't much but she did enjoy it. Honeydukes was her favorite place. When they reached the three broomsticks, she opened the door and held it for him, then stepped inside.
Me? I'll most likely end up staying here like I usually do. she said as she thought about it. My foster dad is always off doing things for work and I don't like being in the house alone. She said and then gave a small smile. Her foster dad was never home. He was always away doing something.

Harry gestured to a nearby table, as if wanting to say that they should sit there, but not opening his mouth. He slid into a chair on one side of the table, expecting Jordyn to sit across from him. He listened to her speak, now only simly aware that he still had about two bites worth of toast left in his hand. He felt a bit stupid about it, so then shoved the whole thing in his mouth, which was probably a bit too much for him to chew at once. At least he was able to keep his mouth closed as he swallowed. He certainly felt stupid now.
"That's unfortunate," Harry commented as a waiter approached them. Harry took off his sweatshirt and hung it over the back of his chair, the Three Broomsticks was always nice and warm, a very cozy place, although it was incessantly crowded beyond its actual compacity. But it was early enough so that there were only a few occupied tables. "Erm, just a butterbeer please," said Harry.

Jordyn followed him to the table and pulled out the other chair. Letting her bag rest on the back, she then pulled off her jacket and let it rest there on the back of her chair. Taking a seat, she looked at the waitress as she came over to them. I'll have a butter beer as well. She said and smiled, then looked back over at Harry as she leaned back in her seat.
I guess...I've just kind of gotten used to spending the holidays alone. She said as she looked down at her hands. I mean, It would be nice to spend it with family but, I don't have any family besides my foster dad. She said and then lifted her head and looked over at him as she leaned back in her chair.

Instantly, Harry felt a connection with Jordyn beneath the surface. Nobody he knew could really understand the feeling of not really having anybody older to turn to for advice (now this wasn't entirely the case since he had Sirius, but he was more of an absent figure in his life), being virtually alone as you wandered through life, trying to make sense of it all. It was a hard thing, not having much a family. Sure, they were related through blood, but as far as Harry was concerned the Dursleys weren't any family of his.
The kindest thing that they had ever done for him was allowed him to sleep in Dudley's second bedroom, instead of routinely forcing him to be kept in the cupboard under the stairs. Harry doubted that he would be able to lie down comfortably in there anymore, he was probably much too tall for it. "I can relate," Harry said with a bit of a frown.

Jordyn gave a small nod of her head when he said that he could relate. For a moment or two, she just sat there in her chair and let her thoughts run through her head. Her gaze down at the table as she let a small sigh escape her lips. When the waitress came back with their butter beer, she gave a small smile and moved to grab money to pay for it.
Sometimes, it's not too bad but other times, I just feel like I don't even know who I am half the time. She said and then took a drink of her butter beer, then set it back down on the table.

"Erm, I'll buy," said Harry as Jordyn reached for her bag. He could at least be somewhat nice and pay for her. He pulled out the small drawstring bag that you used to collect money from your Gringotts vault and counted out the appropriate amount and paid the waitress. If Jordyn insisted upon it, she could pay him back, but that wasn't necessary. Besides, it was only one butterbeer, Harry would probably forget all about it within a day or two.
Harry listened as Jordyn began to speak again. It was so weird, it was almost like gazing upon a different version of himself. It was nice, but strange. Harry had never felt that he could relate to someone on this matter so well before. Perhaps he was meant to meet Jordyn or something. He wasn't a firm believer in fate, but all the same... "Exactly," said Harry.
